8-8.40pm Our Voice, God’s Words
The Relationship Between Teshuvah and Tefillah with Rabbi Yael Jaffe

Our Sages teach us that three things can elicit God’s mercy: teshuvah, tefillah, and tzedakah — repentance, prayer, and charity/righteousness. So if repentance and prayer are considered distinct processes, what is the difference between the two? And how might we imagine them working together in our own lives? In this session, we will zoom in on one verse included in our High Holiday liturgy and use it as a key to answering these questions.

8.40-9pm Apple and honey tasting

9-9.40pm No Salt for Money
The spiritual challenge of tzedakah in precarious financial times with Rabbi Lara Haft Yom-Tov

Jewish law teaches us that we are financially responsible for our neighbors, our fellow Jews, and those struggling around the world. Yet, so many people face constant worries about the changing economy and their own financial lives. We will explore this tension through rabbinic texts about the laws of tzedakah, from the Talmud to today.
