Beit Halochem uk

Beit Halochem UK supports rehabilitation centres across Israel for injured IDF soldiers. These facilities provide a blend of rehabilitative services including
physiotherapy, hydrotherapy and chiropractic treatments alongside social and specialised sport options, educational programmes, and a vast range of creative activities.

Since October 7th demand has increased dramatically as over 5,000 injured soldiers are now in need of Beit Halochem’s support. We will be funding the scholarships programme, giving injured soldiers the chance to rebuild their lives through education. Each soldier has the chance to study a subject of their choice at university as a way to choose a new career path and build their confidence.

Future dreams

Future Dreams offers support to those touched by breast cancer, funds vital research into secondary breast cancer and raises awareness of the importance of regular self-checking, early detection and diagnosis.

It is the only dedicated Breast Cancer centre in the UK and the heart of the charity’s
support services, a place where breast cancer patients can find help to address the
emotional, physical and psychological impact of the disease.

We are supporting the community programme which brings together groups of
women with breast cancer, including a Jewish support group, enabling them to connect and talk to others in the same situation. These groups help to improve emotional wellbeing, alleviate loneliness and create longstanding friendships.

Union of jewish students

Union of Jewish Students (UJS) has always been essential to student life, especially
when it comes to fighting antisemitism and defending Jewish students.

This past year has seen unprecedented levels of antisemitism on campus, making the
Jewish student experience more challenging than ever.

Since October 7th, Jewish students have experienced death threats, online abuse and
the defacement of Jewish student spaces, completely transforming what it means to be a Jewish student in 2024.

Our support to UJS will help them combat antisemitism on campus, to support staffing of their welfare line – which over 1,000 students have called since October 7th – and to help ensure that Jewish students feel safe on campus.

world jewish relief

World Jewish Relief (WJR) are the UK Jewish community’s humanitarian agency
and have worked in Ukraine for over 30 years supporting the Jewish community and
beyond.

Since the War in Ukraine started over two and a half years ago, WJR have helped over 300,000 Ukrainians dealing with the trauma of the conflict. From refugees, internally displaced people and those who have stayed, the needs remain huge in an active war zone.

We will be supporting the Back to Childhood programme, supporting children who have missed education and are suffering from the trauma of war. With so many aspects of childhood having been lost, it is vital that Jewish children in Ukraine are supported to express themselves and can learn how to be free from fear.

Masorti young adult outreach & nnls nurturing potential

Masorti Young Adult Outreach

Finding ways to keep young people in their 20s connected to Jewish life and community can, at times, feel impossible. For many graduates, Judaism is no longer a part of their lives. Without the right structure, support, and opportunities for young people to engage, we risk losing them entirely.

Masorti Judaism provides a way back to community and belonging for our young adults.

Masorti Judaism are creating networks of young adults, by bringing them into relationship with rabbis, guiding them to relevant opportunities within Masorti communities, and utilising digital and in-person community organising methods.

NNLS Nurturing Potential Fund

To ensure that we continue to be in a strong position to recruit excellent rabbis and educators and nurture future volunteer service leaders at NNLS, it is essential that we forge and develop connections with emerging leaders engaged in Jewish learning and practice, both here and across the globe.

The NNLS Nurturing Potential Fund will support young adults keen to deepen their knowledge through formal study programmes, those pursuing a professional journey in Jewish Education or Smichah, or those building service leadership skills.

If you are a young adult exploring a future in Jewish education and leadership and would like to apply for funding, please contact office@nnls-masorti.org.uk

Tzedakah / Charities - Giving at NNLS

Tzedakah is a mainstay of Jewish life. The sages teach that the world was built upon kindness. However, tzedakah goes one step beyond. Literally translated as “justice” or “righteousness,” tzedakah tells us that sharing what we have with others isn't something special, it is the just thing to do.

NNLS supports a range of charities through our appeals at Pesach and Yom Kippur, and throughout the year.

"And when you reap the harvest in your land, you shall not reap the corners of your field; neither shall you gather the gleaning of your harvest. And you shall not glean your vineyard, nor shall you gather the single grapes of your vineyard. You shall leave them for the poor and the stranger." Vayikra 19:9-10
