Leket Israel, the National Food Bank, is Israel’s leading food rescue organisation, dedicated to reducing food waste and fighting food insecurity.

In 2024, Leket rescued 31,400 tons of fresh agricultural produce and 2.084 million meals from hotels, corporate cafeterias, and IDF bases. This food was distributed through 300 nonprofit partners, reaching 415,000 people in need every week.

Since October 7th 2023, the demand for food rescue has surged. Leket has expanded its efforts to support displaced families, frontline communities, and those facing economic hardship. In addition, Leket has prioritised strengthening Israeli agriculture by providing grants, low-interest loans, and mobilizing 100,000 volunteers to assist farmers struggling with a shortage of fieldhands.

FEAST With Us

FEAST's mission is to improve the nutrition, wellbeing and health of people at risk of food insecurity in North London. They deliver community meals, or a "Feast", where they cook nutritious, balanced meals for people experiencing food insecurity using donated surplus food. Each meal brings volunteers and service users together to cook and eat as equals.

Since 2023, FEAST has been providing Healthy Eating on a Budget programmes, working with their service users to build nutrition knowledge, develop practical cooking and budgeting skills and empower them to make healthier choices.

NNLS is proud to provide kitchen space each week for this important cause, and NNLS volunteers Jan Roth and Debra Farbey have won the JVN Volunteer Team of the Year Award for the last two years to recognise their work for the charity.

As FEAST celebrate 10 years in 2025, they're appealing for your support so they can continue to provide their meal and nutrition services for the local community.

Gifts to the Poor (Matanot la’Evyonim)

It would be unthinkable to celebrate without also reaching out to others. Traditionally one gives money which is distributed on Purim itself.

As well as donating money to the charities above, we would also like to encourage you to donate food to local food banks, or to Foodbank Aid which collects, sorts and delivers to food banks much needed food, toiletries and household items. They deliver exactly what food banks request, thereby reducing waste.
